Land Rover will benefit from Chinese apetite for big cars with its new Range Rover Hybrid Long Wheelbase, unveiled in Beijing Auto China, this weekend.
The stretched version of the eco-friendly model is now 188 mm bigger than the standard version, which means that the overall length reaches now 5.2 meters. It will be enough for two passengers to travel in luxury conditions on the back seat, which now offers seats that can recline up to 17 degrees.
The SUV its the first to offer a diesel engine, even if we are talking not a conventional unit, but a hybrid one. The propulsion system consists of a SDV 3.0 liter engine, combined with an electric motor. With the help of an 8-speed ZF automatic transission, the SUV can deliver a total output of 340 hp at 4000 rpm and 700 Nm of torque between 1500 and 3000 rpm.

The combined efforts of the diesel and electric motor can offer an average consumption of 36.7 mpg or 6.4 liter/100 km and CO2 emissions of 169 g/km. In the press release, Land Rover guarantees an electric range of just on mile as long as the speed doesn`t top 48 km/h.
When both engines run together, the Range Rover Hybrid Long Wheelbase reaches 100 km/h in just 6.9 seconds, while topping a speed of 218 km/h.
