Porsche Macan will be offered with a new engine option starting this summer.
The smallest SUV in Porsche`s range will also be the model which returns to using a four cylinder engine, after the German manufacturer abandoned this type of engine 19 years ago. Back in 1995, Porsche used a four cylinder 3.0 liter engine on the 968 model, delivering 240 hp back then.
Now, the new gasoline engine has a 2.0 liter capacity and can deliver 237 hp and 350 Nm of torque starting low rpm, the engine being supercharged and equipped with direct injection. The new unit ensures low CO2 emissions and an average consumption of just 37.6 mpg UK or 7.5 liters/100 km.
The powerful combination found under the hood can be managed with the help of a PDK transmission that can propel the crossover from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.9 seconds.
Porsche Macan standard equipment
The price of the new Macan equipped with the 2.0 liter engine will be much cheaper than the current versions making it the most affordable model available, an entry point for Porsche ownership.
The standard specification of the car will include 18-inch wheels, an automatic rear tailgate, multifunction steering with paddle shifters, dual-zone climate control and comfort seats with Alcantara. The option list will include alloy wheels up to 21 inches in diameter, air suspension, panoramic roof, cruise control and ParkAssist.
