Opel will extend the current Astra GTC engine line with the introduction of the new 1.6 liter diesel. The four cylinder unit, developed by GM in Turin, Italy, is already known for its good results on the Meriva and Zafira models.
On the new Astra GTC, the 1.6 liter CDTI will develop 136 hp and 320 Nm, replacing the current 1.7 CDTi. The smaller engine offers 6 hp and 20 Nm more than the 1.7 unit.
The average consumption will be of just 4.1 liter/100 km while the emissions will top 109 g/km. Even so, the performances improve: 0 to 100 km/h sprint takes 10.2 seconds, while the 80 to 120 km/h acceleration takes 8.9 seconds in fifth gear. Top speed reaches 198 km/h.
To reach this numbers, Opel Astra GTC 1.6 CDTi comes equipped with start-stop, braking energy recuperation, improved six speed manual transmission and can comply with Euro 6 standards.
The prices stat at 24.390 euro in Germany.
