After it was anticipated by the Hazumi concept in Geneva Motor Show, Mazda2 finally breaks cover in Japan. The small car is ready to continue the Kodo design language, already seen on its bigger brothers, the Mazda3 and Mazda6.
This influence is also feeling inside the car, where the dashboard was simplified, offering less knobs and buttons, but including a small colored touch screen.
The Japanese manufacturer did not offered many details about the fourth generation of the Mazda2/Demio, but we expect that the car features the same dimmensions as the Hazumi concept: 4070mm long, 1730mm wide and 1450mm tall, with a 2585mm wheelbase.
2015 Mazda2 engine range
Mazda will offer a new 1.5 liter SkyActiv-D diesel engine, delivering 105 hp at 4000 rpm and 250 Nm between 1500 and 2500 rpm. Along the new diesel, Mazda2/Demio will also get the 1.5 liter SkyActivG petrol unit in different power versions. Both will be available with manual or automatic gearboxes.
Production of the new 2015 Mazda2 has already started in Hofu Japan, with local market getting the car ahead of its Paris Motor Show debut in October. Europe and other continents will receive the car at the end of this year.
