Fiat unveiled its future plans for Maserati luxury brand during a press confference held today by Fiat SPA boss, Sergio Marchionne. After a very good year, with sales that nearly tripled the ones in 2012, Maserati is scheduling a range expansion with three new models.
First car to see daylight will be the production version of the SUV concept Kubang, unveiled in 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show and well received by the public. The SUV, a rival for future luxury vehicles like Porsche Cayenne and Lamborghini Urus will be based on a new platform that will allow the installment of an all wheel drive option.
The engine range will include two outputs for the current V6, one with 350 hp and 425 hp. The top of the range version will use a V8 engine and will be capable of rivaling Porsche Cayenne Turbo, as it will offer more than 520 hp. Those looking for efficiency will be offered with a new 3.0 liter V6, available in two power version: 250 and 340 hp.
Maserati Alfieri production version
After the Kubang, Maserati will also introduce the production version of the Alfieri concept, unveiled in 2014 Geneva Motor Show. The car will slot beneath the current GranTurismo and will be available wih RWD configuration or AWD as an option. Power will come from the popular V6 engine, available in three power versions: 410 hp entry-level, 450 hp and top of the range 520 hp.
Alfieri will be followed by the new generation GranTurismo. The car will use a new platform and will make use of a V8 engine, capable of more than 560 hp.
