2016 Buick Cascada is the first convertible Buick in the last 25 years. So 2015 NAIAS Detroit is a very important event for the US manufacturer, who sells Opel cars on the American market.
Built as a global vehicle, the Cascada was updated to appeal to US clients. As same as in Europe, the car will have a 2+2 configuration and a chassis that uses a HiPer Strut front suspension and Watts Z-link suspension in the rear. The body is more rigid and it features soft top that lowers in only 17 seconds at speeds up to 31 mph.
The 2016 Buick Cascada is driven by a 1.6L turbocharged engine ready to deliver 200 horsepower, which is more than 100 horsepower per liter. The gasoline engine also delivers strong torque, estimated at 206 lb-ft (280 Nm), with an overboost feature that briefly pushes torque to an estimated 221 lb-ft (300 Nm). All the power is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
The new Cascada will be on sale only next year, with prices to be announced closer to the market introduction.
