Ford reinstalled the Escort name during this year Beijing Auto China. Produced between 1968 till 2002, the Escort was replaced in many countries by the current Focus, which proved to be a much more success.
Now, the name is brought to life with a production-ready sedan, designed to be sold exclusively on the Chinese market. Anticipated by a concept unveiled last year, the series production Escort will be manufactured by Ford with the help of its local partner, Changan.
The final version was designed in Australia by a team who followed the current „beauty language” of the Fiesta, Focus and Mondeo. All cars are easily identified thanks to the Aston Martin-like front grille and have angular headlights.
The interior features a rich equipment list, with six airbags, charging points for different media types, Connect Radio, Bluetooth connectivity for smartphones and a Device Dock installed on the top of the dashboard.
2015 Ford Escort engine
The new 2015 Ford Escort will use only one engine: a four cylinder 1.5 liter Ti-VCT gasoline engine. According to Ford, this unit will offer ”improved low-speed torque, increased fuel economy and greater power, all while delivering lower emissions”.
The new Escort will try to attract the customers looking for a C-segment vehicle in a market where this kind of vehicles account for 25 percent of the country’s total vehicle industry.
