Ford unveiled today the new generation Edge, a midsize SUV, that will go global, being available for European clients also. The new 2015 Edge features the same platform as the Fusion/Mondeo and borrows some exterior lines from the Edge Concept, introduced last year during LA Auto Show.
On the North American market the new 2015 Ford Edge will be offered with the 2.0 liter Ecoboost engine, delivering 245 hp and 357 Nm. Those who want more power can choose the 2.7 liter Ecoboos V6, which offers 300 hp. And finally, for those old-fashioned clients, Ford will also include the classic naturally aspirated 3.5 liter V6 unit. All the units will work with a six speed automatic transmission and SelectShift manual mode.
Seen as a technology lider for Ford, the new Edge will feature new elements like Active Grille Shutters, Adaptive cruise control and collision warning with brake support, Adaptive steering technology, Blind Spot Information System, new 180-degree front camera with washer featured for first time on a Ford vehicle, Cross-traffic alert, Heated and cooled front seats, heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, and lane-keeping assist.
Even if it is a global model, woth over 100 countries to go on sale, the new Edge will be only produced in US, in Oakville Assembly Complex, near Toronto, and will reach its first clients at the end of this year.
