2015 BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M were officially revealed today. The second generation performance models are heading for a public debut during next month Los Angeles Motor Show, with first deliveries expected at the benining of next year.
The two performance models are almost identical, using the same 4.4 liter V8 engine, capable of delivering 5705 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque. With such power under the hood and a eight speed automatic transmission, the BMW X5 M and X6 M can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.2 seconds, a great performance for cars that weight more than two tones each.
This performance makes the SUV`s 0.1 seconds slower than a BMW M4, the performance coupe that replaced the old BMW M3 Coupe. Fuel consumption and emissions are down 20 percent, with an average emissions rate of 258 g/km.
The potential hidden underneath is betrayed by the double M tailpipes, by a massive diffuser, and by a large sset of 21 inch M light-alloy wheels.
