Mini Clubman Concept ready for Geneva debut

27 February 2014

Mini is expanding the range of the new Mini with the first variant of the hatchabck. The car is anticipated by the new Clubman Concept, ready to take the central stage in Geneva Motor Show. Introduced as a concept, the new Clubman prototype is almost ready to go into production.

The concept measures 4233 mm in length, 1844 mm wide, 1450 mm tall and becomes the bigest Mini ever, capable of transporting five adults and their luggage. Compared to its predecessor, the new Clubman COncept has four frameless doors, but retains the suicide architecture for their oppening.

Classic Mini design icons such as the hexagonal radiator grille, Side Scuttles, Black Band and the typical lights are designed in a modern interpretation, which will be extended across the all range in the future. The headlights feature LED daytime running lights.

Along with the exterior, the interior of the MINI Clubman Concept has also grown to larger dimensions, offering five fully-fledged seats. Nubuck leather in a light Sky Blue, patent leather in rich Berry Red and black soft nappa leather are exclusive details for the interior. Decorative strips in blue limed ash grain complete the interior. The two highly expressive fabrics Tweed Grey and Black Twill set a counterpoint to the classic value attributes of wood, leather, silver.

The display area in the center console (160mm x 150mm) adapts according to the content selected or the situation on the road. Three “intelligent” toggles are assigned the relevant content according to selected content or driving functions. Above and beyond this, the three toggles can also be freely programmed and assigned particular functions according preference.

The production version of the 2015 Mini Clubman is expected to be introduced in autumn, during Paris Motor Show, with sales comencing at the end of the year.
